This is a hallmark project because it is the first one I art directed. The goal of the project was to tell the story of two type families: modern and slab serif. My team's strategy was to design a z-fold magazine, so each type family could have it's own proper beginning and end, as opposed to being woven together. To take the storytelling to the next level, we identified materials (e.g. silk and wood) that communicated the main tone of each family—graceful modern and confident slab serif—and laser cut physical letters that we photographed for the covers.
